It is therefore by this that, we are going to be treating only the Sol-fa notations in this document. Sol-fa notation was developed by Curwen in England in 1841. The aim was to make sight reading easier for beginners.

May 12, 2021 · I do not know about Brazil, but in much of Latin America the notes are Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si (or Ti). A,B, C etc may not be meaningful. Reactions: Xavier da Silva
La is also the tonic note of the relative minor of a scale, and can give a melody a sad or longing sound, so a hand hanging down is a perfect sign to represent it. The note Ti is the seventh tone of the scale. It’s often called a leading tone because it feels like it wants to lead into the next highest note, which is Do. It makes sense that
Eventually, the European seven-note musical structure—do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti—or the "do re mi" method of reading music and singing, became standard. The four note shapes were expanded into seven geometric characters, and notes were later printed on a staff of lines, as in the European method.

Many singing teachers advise beginning with humming as it keeps your voice warm without stressing your vocal cords. Once your voice is warm, vowels or solfège syllables are used to open up your throat.
